Windsurf

Daily and weekly limits from Windsurf's locally cached plan, without reading credentials or making network requests.

On this page

Available in 0.8.0. UsageNow reads the plan Windsurf has already cached on your Mac.

Set up#

  1. Install Windsurf and sign in using Windsurf itself.
  2. Open Windsurf so it refreshes its plan data.
  3. Enable Windsurf in Settings › Providers in UsageNow, then refresh.

There is no key or sign-in to add to UsageNow for this provider.

What it shows#

  • Daily and weekly allowance, reset times, and plan when the cache reports them.
  • Billing-cycle prompt credits and flow actions on older plan formats.
  • An old reading is marked stale; an expired quota percentage is not reused for the new window.

Windsurf does not provide token or model activity through this cache, so UsageNow does not invent it. Available fields depend on the Windsurf version and plan.

Data source#

Only windsurf.settings.cachedPlanInfo in:

~/Library/Application Support/Windsurf/User/globalStorage/state.vscdb

The SQLite database is opened read-only. Credential entries are never selected, and UsageNow makes no network request to Windsurf.

If limits are missing#

Open Windsurf, let it update its own plan, then refresh UsageNow. Merely installing the app or finding its database does not guarantee a cached quota exists. When Windsurf is closed, UsageNow can only show the last values it saved. See widget freshness.
