GitHub Copilot
Experimental Copilot allowances and credit counters with a GitHub token you provide.
On this page
Experimental Available in 0.8.0.
Connect#
Enable GitHub Copilot in Settings › Providers, choose Connect, and enter your own GitHub token. Choose Check and Save. Use a dedicated token and the least permissions available; never paste it into an issue or chat.
UsageNow does not use VS Code's OAuth client, copy a token from another app, or add headers to impersonate VS Code. It does not provide a GitHub sign-in flow.
What it shows#
Reported allowances, reset information, and absolute credit counters. Older free-seat counters can also appear when the endpoint returns them.
Unlimited and zero-cap placeholders have no percentage. Duplicate pools are not added together. These are account counters, not today's local tokens or requests.
Source and compatibility#
The read request is GET https://api.github.com/copilot_internal/user. It is experimental, not GitHub's official billing/premium-request API. A token that works with the billing API is not necessarily accepted here. Some token types or plans can be refused; UsageNow cannot add permissions or bypass that refusal.
Not every paid Copilot plan or token type has been verified. If the check fails, read its message; do not grant broad account permissions just to make it pass.
See Connect a provider for Keychain storage, added accounts, removal, and rate-limit cooldowns.
